Dill Pickles

Dill Pickles

1.     Get water boiling
2.    Wash cucumbers
3.    Cut the cucumbers into 8ths (cut off ends)
4.    Make a mixture of salt, water, and vinegar
5.    Boil the mixture
6.    Wash cans
7.    Put all the seasonings/spices in jars
8.    Pack the jars with the cucumbers
9.    Put the mixture in the jars
10.  Put lids on jars
11.   Put them in the canner
12.  Let boil for 15 min
13.  Cool for 24 hours
14.  Let sit for 4-6 weeks
15.  EAT

  1. How many cucumbers will fit into a jar? Cut them into 8ths which way? How much of the mixture do we need to have? What seasonings and spices do we use? When we boil the mixture, do we mix it with water? In step 6, don't you mean jars not cans?
