Spiced Gooseberries

 Spiced Gooseberries

5 lb Gooseberries
3 lb Brown sugar
1 pt Vinegar
2 tb Cinnamon
1 tb Ground Cloves

  1. Remove stems 
  2. Wash Gooseberries
  3. Combine sugar and vinegar
  4. Tie spices in spice bag 
  5. Add to syrup
  6. Bring liquid to boil
  7. Add berries
  8. Cook for 20-30 min
  9. Pack into hot jars 
  10. Seal
  11. EAT
  • Don't leave it on hot stove without mixing for too long because the sugar will burn

Tips & Ingredients

Tips for Dill Pickles·      Make sure they are sealed
·      Label with dates
·      Make sure jars are clean
·      No broken rims
·      Make sure they are at least ¼ inch from the lid
·      Keep in a dark place
·      You can use Apple Cider vinegar or white vinegar for the mixture
·      Use knife to pop air bubbles inside can

Ingredients For Dill Pickles
  
·      Vinegar
·      Mustard seeds
·      Peppercorns
·      Dill weed
·      Cucumbers

Dill Pickles

Dill Pickles

1.     Get water boiling
2.    Wash cucumbers
3.    Cut the cucumbers into 8ths (cut off ends)
4.    Make a mixture of salt, water, and vinegar
5.    Boil the mixture
6.    Wash cans
7.    Put all the seasonings/spices in jars
8.    Pack the jars with the cucumbers
9.    Put the mixture in the jars
10.  Put lids on jars
11.   Put them in the canner
12.  Let boil for 15 min
13.  Cool for 24 hours
14.  Let sit for 4-6 weeks
15.  EAT
